A simple, gentle woman, Nay Sario looks just like any mother in Patag with a face that reflects a life well-lived and hands that bears the years of labor and struggle to feed a family of six.

Yes, you wouldn't look at her twice. That is until you've been informed that she is was the 2012 Farmer of the Year of the Province of Negros Occidental. That is before you knew that she was Western Visayas' Most Outstanding High-Value Commercial Crops Farmer BEST FARMER, awarded by Agriculture Executive Director Larry Nacionales.

Yes, you wouldn't look at her twice. That is until you've been inside her farm. A 2-hectare farm filled with lush leafy vegetables, trees whose branches bow to the ground due to the heaviness of the fruits they bear and shrubs that almost look manufactured because of the lushness of its colors.

To date, Mrs. Rosario Villarenia of remains a model for other farmers because of her pioneering work in integrated farming technology and organic farming.

She remains a model for us all, an example that hard work never remains unrewarded.
